Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mechanic II to perform maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty mobile and stationary equipment. This position will be responsible for diagnosing mechanical issues, completing preventive maintenance, repairing hydraulic and diesel systems, and ensuring equipment remains safe and operational.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty equipment, including scrapers, bulldozers, haul trucks, and excavators.
• Inspect and repair diesel power units, hydraulic systems, pumps, motors, safety valves, and injection systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication and replacement or adjustment of filters, belts, and related components.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures and complete necessary repairs.
• Perform welding and fabrication for mobile equipment and fixed assets.
• Operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with parts ordering and maintain accurate inventory levels.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop/work area.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related experience.
• Strong heavy diesel experience.
• Skilled automotive/mechanical background.
• Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and diesel equipment.
• Welding knowledge and field experience.
• Experience using hand and power tools for mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Experience with equipment such as hydraulic jacks, A/C recyclers, and emission analyzers.
• Ability to use diagnostic software, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, charts, and technical information.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical. JD- Environmental Mechanic II

Physical & Work Requirements

Must be comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, as well as dusty and odorous environments. The position may require nighttime work, climbing stairs, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 75 pounds. Candidates must be safety-conscious and comfortable working in an active waste-facility environment.
